Brunswick Islands and greater Brunswick County has nearly
fifty miles of pristine shoreline along our five barrier islands offer
countless opportunities for relaxation, outdoor activities and family
fun. Golfers,
thinking they have died and gone to heaven, will find no fewer than 21
champion courses in Brunswick County. Add to that the many courses
within driving distance in nearby Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, and you
can see why many consider this the golf capital of the world. Many
hotels and cottage realtors offer special golf packages and will assist
you in scheduling tee times. Fishermen
will find 22 species of fish in the surf and even more in the fertile
waters in and around the Inter-coastal Waterway. Six area piers will
take you further into the surf while head boats and charter boats are
available for deep-sea fishing. History
lovers will delight in the charm of historic Southport, the excavated
colonial village at Brunswick Town. Area museums will enlighten you -
from the Coastal Museum of North Carolina in Ocean Isle Beach, to the
North Carolina Aquarium, just a short ferry ride from Southport. Dining
on seafood comes natural in Brunswick County. Calabash, known as the
"Seafood Capital of the World," has over 22 seafood
restaurants and hosts more than one million dinners each year. Fresh
seafood and friendly service can be found throughout the county. Well
connected by US Highways 17, 74/76, and 421, as well as CSX Railroad,
Brunswick County borders the Cape Fear River, offering several acres of
waterfront access. New Hanover International Airport is located just 3
miles north of Wilmington, with 17 daily flights to Charlotte,
Philadelphia and Atlanta hubs. Brunswick
Community College works with companies to custom design training
programs to suit their needs at the Industrial Training Center or at the
industry’s facility. Typically, the college assists industry in
seeking, evaluating, selecting and training new employees as industry
standards or needs change. Safety and fire training are often key
components of this continuous manpower training for individual
manufacturing firms and industries. The college can also offer
interpersonal skills building management and other classes on an
as-needed basis. Through curriculum courses, which may be offered on the
job site by Brunswick Community College, it is possible to upgrade
employees to associate degree credentials. Educational opportunities are
also available at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, which
offers four-year college degrees and continuing education programs. Click
